Sharing some resources.
I have spent a lot of time this year putting resources created in our project online for teachers to share, so I thought this would be a good place to possibly ‘get the word out’. The resources are on the YVeLC website - just click ‘Resources’ in the menu, and they are divided into subject areas, general, and software. They have been created by myself and colleagues in the YVeLC in response to requests and perceived needs of teachers in our community. The resources range from curriculum material (WebQuests etc) to Professional Development material for teachers. There are lots of valuable material there, but two I have used a lot with staff are the very simple Multimedia Resources and the information on Open Source Software in Education.
This year we have also invested a lot of time in starting an online library of copyright free images for educational use. The images come from staff, students and generous friends, and now number aproximately 1300, and we are updating them all the time. These images are available for all students and educators to use for educational purposes, so please feel free to access them from the online gallery.
We use Joomla to create our website, and an advantage of the gallery component we are using is that you can put selected images into your ‘lightbox’ (like a shoping cart) and then download them all together in a single zip file. Very convenient.
